Post subject: | A Move: twitch to hitbox |
For a while now me and Metroidfighter have been testing out hitbox to see if we ant to move our live streaming to it. After the recent issues we have had with twitch, and the improvement on latency with hitbox we have decided to make the move. Our streaming links to the right have now been updated to our new channels. We also have a team setup with hitbox. If you are a TBU member and stream, just sent me a message on the forums and we can add you to the TBU team. The TBU Streaming team is for all members, not just Owners or Admins. This goes for anything we put in the TBU Video Spotlight (Youtube and related type of video). If you want more info on why I am dropping the use of Twitch, I will post in the forums. Our TBU Team can be found here: http://www.hitbox.tv/team/thebuildersunion |

So, the reasons for me? 1.) Crappy lag. Hitbox's latency is way better than twitch. 2.) Twitch's new automated process for detecting copyrighted audio. This new system muted about a hour of my play through of Portal 2. No background audio, just game audio only. Not even a mic. 3.) Lack of response or support for trying to dispute the above issue. Got the usual canned message saying they would look at it. Then nothing and its been months. 4.) Deleted pretty much all my videos (yes the ones flagged to keep) with no notice or email. Nothing. 5.) Small one, but they seemed to have made a move to mainly use email address from "known" providers. So it now keeps fussing at me about needing to verify my email. 6.) Mobile app only lets you view channels with "X" number followers. This makes it harder for smaller channels to get going. 7.) And finally, no telling what will happen with them now that Amazon owns them. Could be good, could be bad. But with the above issues, I am not inclined to use them until "if" it gets better. Think Met has a lot of similar issues and reasons. ADHD Version: hitbox.tv is free and it works better. |

Agreed. Twitch was way to slow. It was having any where from 25 seconds of lag to the viewer. Now it's down to 6 seconds. That's not bad since I don't have the best connection in the world. I have a round 700 kilobit upload. about 85 kilobytes. about a megabyte every 12 seconds.... If I am lucky. So not the best in the world. But I live in the boonies. |
