It has been suggested by some that we move to The Center. Before voluntary resets or map moves I generally try to gain 100% approval from our player base. As of right now, its not 100% due to some valid concerns.
When doing these resets we are generally able to migrate player and tribe data from one instance to another. Players are also able to backup their dinos and then download them to the new map along with some starter resources. This is were the problem starts.
From our testing we are unable to download dinos that were saved from The Island to The Center. As far as I can tell player and tribe data "should" migrate however. Thats the first issue.
The second is that some players want to see the updates that happen on the Vanilla map (Island). By changing over to the Center, we would not get some of the more cutting edge changes and updates that we would get on the default map. The new Redwood biom for example.
I know many want to change over to the Center because its new and unknown, but the same exact problem will happen later on after several updates to the default map. People will then want to swap over to it in order to have the new areas.
Personally I am somewhat 50/50 on this. I have not had time recently to invest much in building after our last reset, but I dont fancy loosing the tames I have currently. (also due to lack of time). In the same turn I am curious to see the new stuff added to the default map.
ADHD Version: The Center is a Epic Map, but not everyone wants to go to it yet, so for now we are staying Default.
