Seems the makers of Space Engineers have started on a new game that will be developed along side Space Engineers.
From what they have said this will not negatively impact Space Engineers. They have hired a separate development staff for the new game.

According to the blog post about this, since both games share the same code base they will actually benefit from each other. Some of the aspects developed for the new game are planned to be moved over, and vice versa.

The game looks promising.


It also looks like they are planning AI, real campaigns, more optimizations, and fixes for Space Engineers as well.
